Ewing Entries from 1617-1700 in the Index to the Particular Register of Sasines for Argyll, Dumbarton, Arran, Bute and Tarbert

Numbers given after the date refer to the volume and folio number.
The first series, RS9 runs from 1617 -57
The second series, RS10 runs from 1673-1871
There is therefore a gap between 1657 and 1673
I have only included entries up to the early 1700s, although in many cases sasine entries continue after that.
The Index does specify whether the sasine involves property in Dunbartonshire or Argyll, but I have not included this information in the notes below.

In addition to Sasine Registers kept for each county, there was also a General Register of Sasines which covered the whole country. I have only searched the Indexes from 1617 to 1660 and found:

Sasine Registers in the county of Stirling and in the Glasgow area

Stirlingshire

There are no indexes for the Register of Sasines for the county of Stirling (which also includes Clackmannan and the Stewartry of Menteith). The Register begins in 1617. The only finding aids are the Minute Books, but unfortunately the earliest one only starts in 1685.

So, to locate Ewing sasine, it would be the case of paging through the various registers checking the names of party/parties involved written in the margins or in a preamble at the beginning of each entry

The Glasgow area

Most of it lies in the counties of Lanarkshire, although the Barony lies in Renfrewshire

There is an Index to Lanarkshire Sasines 1618-1720; 1721-1781

The only Ewing entry listed for the 17th century is :

There is no Index to Renfrewshire and the Barony of Glasgow. The Register starts in 1641. There are Minute Books from 1661
