Clan Ewing: Cowal Highland Gathering, 2019

In August 2019, Clan Ewing held its first international gathering in Dunoon and in the former Barony of Otter, ancestral homeland of the chiefs of our clan in Cowal, Argyll. We visited the sites of the clan’s medieval strongholds at Castle MacEwen and Knock MacEwen, attended lectures on the history of Clan Ewing and on Ewing DNA, and took part in the Cowal Highland Gathering.

The Clan Ewing Gathering 2019 was organised through the Ewing Family Association and supported by the Scottish Clan Event Fund.

The weather wasn’t always in our favour (orgainsers of the Cowal Highland Gathering said they’d never known it so bad) but we carried on undaunted, and it was great to see so many Ewings united on Scottish soil.
